If you want to donate money, log onto http://www.cnn.com for a list of organizations seeking relief donations. Blessings and out. To OneKing'sandMonarch'sNationunderthegroove----Can U DIG IT????!!!!! Gigged with Rhondda over the weekend and she'll be donating her profit from the sales of "Gotta Love Your Sacramnento Kings"(versions 1&2) to the victims of Katrina. Log onto http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/rhondda to buy a copy----Do your part to help out!!!!!!!! Hey everyone!!! Over $2000.00 has been raised towards Katrina relief so far from the sales of versions 1&2 of the King's song. I'm gonna continue to donate profits of v.1&2 for relief.....it may be a drop in the bucket compared to what's needed in the gulf but it feels good to help out....Thanx to all of you that have contributedGod bless you all. Yeah....it IS a drop in the bucket compared to the $25,000.00 the *Lakers* gave to New Orleans today. can you even buy a keyboard for that, Rhondda? What is that, maybe 1 of the instruments in your friggin' 'Ode 2 the Queenie Nation? What a waste of time. they suck, period. get out while you stillcan... A waste of time, huh??!!Than why are you here & so interested in Rhondda's song??Why are you talkin' smack if you REALLY think 'da King's suck??!!Because you don't!!! It's so obvious! As for the *fakers* 25,000.0, it's 'da players from 'da Hornets that actually donated time for habitat for humanity rebuilds down here in 'da 9th ward. It's fine to throw money at something, but I haven't seen anyone from 'Planet faker' donating their precious time down here. You know' all kinds of people can just throw money at things, but until i see you *fakers* doing grunt work down here ur still planet faker to me, man.No go back to fakerheathen URL ASAP.
WEll said, OSM.It is easy just to throw money around, but it was Hornet's players that stepped up, including one of our new Hornets players, Bobby Jackson, who i saw here last week(in St. Bernard's Parish). He may be a ball-player, but he's real & down-to-earth.
I was supposed to start graduate work at U.C. Davis last semester but I filed a deferment so that could volunteer down here with habitat for Humanity. The need is still so great, & being down here makes you realize how precious life & family are.it makes you respect yourself more, for what you have that others don't that you're trying to help them with. The work isn't easy, but I wouldn't trade any of what I've done here.
Not that it makes me like the fakers anymore, I dislike them more for being such superficial a$$whipes, actually.
I wanted to give a big thank you to all of those that have donated their time like Andre` or OSM;& all of those that have donated $$$ like Rhondda or other musicians; know that money donated to the Musician's Village will go JUST for that; for renovating musicians homes & the new school & arts center here. NONE of the $$ will go to 'vacation homes' on the gulf coast. This is for the most needy in the Upper 9th Ward.
For those of you who would like to donate directly to the Musician's village yourself:
What a week for the people down in New Orleans and Mississippi who went through Hurricane Katrina on monday. My heart goes out to the survivors. They just look exhausted as I see their faces on CNN. They are moving over 25,000 people to the Astrodome in Houston, Texas tonight. Sports seems to be "non important" right now. Hopefully, our government can step in and help these people get back on their feet. If you would like to post some well wishes in this thread, please do so. God Bless!!
To: OneKing'sandMonarch'sNationintotheGroove..can U dig it?
I agree...sport does seem superficial in the face of such tragedy...but it makes us feel normal n' alive---'dat's why I hope they rebuild the arena in the 'bigeasy'...may it rise again!! The people there deserve the best after what happened---I LOVED gigging there--'easy' musicians are 'loose' and unself-conscious natural musicians...Not an 'L7' in the whole bunch I'd ever met>
Coming back from Chicago a young lady with a baby sat next to me...not what U'd NORMALLY want sitting next to you...She'd turned 21 on Sat., 8-27: 'partied' at a casino in Long Beach Miss. that ended up on the coast Monday mornin'...her parents were in a shelter in Florida, she hadn't talked to them since Mon.,..and she seemed kinda numb--was going to stay with other relatives in Galt.
Felt sorry for her and gave her my last $50.00. Her story really brought home how suddenly things can change---a good life is not something to be taken for granted
Remember this?OSM & I were in Chicago at the same time; tho' he was on an earlier flight back. There's a posting on the "gotta Love" thread about us sitting in with Buddy Guy at Ravinia I'll find later for you all.
Hard to believe it's been a year & so much still needs to be done. One of the things I'm most gratefull for is donating the proceeds of my song to those that lost everything. One of my finest moments, actually.
I wanted to list some other resources for those of you that would like to help out further:
You know, if it wasn't for the help of private citizens; would ANYTHING have been done to help those people in NOLA or on the Gulf Coast? That's so f*ckin' messed up that poor musicians are leading the recovery, where the f*ck is the govt.? Oh, of course, over in Iraq wher we don't belong, & our soldiers & national guard as a 'back door ' draft are paying the price while our president 'vacations' at his ranch. So much for fighting terrorrism, instead our govt. is helping to create terrorrism.I guess you can tell I'm not a republican.
I remember the postings OSM did from Chicago, wasn't that before you started posting on the Gotta Love thread, Rhondda?
yes...my 'manager' told me to ignore the thread, blah-blah; now I'm my own manager.
Both RBX & Old stockton Musician are in NOLA now. RBX is working with a church organization in the lower 9th; OSM is back in the musician's village & jamming down there.
To quote OSM:"der' ain't nuthin' like de energy down here; I can't bring myself ta' leave".
Good for him; & others like him. & kudos to TNT's broadcast(12-14-06)from NOLA highlighting the problem; the Chuckster was...sir charlesish. Are you gonna run for governator?
Please continue to do what you can everyone & donate to the sites listed in this thread, which I can vouch for,for sure.

So I'm still in NOLA. I've been working with habitat for humanity down here, & watching alot of Hornets basketball. It's fun to see B-Jax & peja again on T.V., but they're struggling as hard as the Kings; hopefully they'll get better. there's still a lot to do here, but I think I'll stay longer, this feels important for us to try to get people out of these trailors they are still living in.& I agree with Pacific, it seems a$$inine that the govt. can spend billions for a war we shouldn't have started but it's the PEOPLE of this country helping these people out. What an embara$$ment.our govt. should be ashamed.
